Back by popular demand… last year’s youth mixer returns to Kultuuripäevad as NextGen Mixer! We invite young people (ages 16-35) after the opening ceremony to the downstairs EELK hall, where you can meet with your friends and enjoy Long Drink specials (available to NextGen participants 21+). Los Angeles based Estonian female rapper SVNDRA will end the night with a captivating performance.
Global Estonian Youth Network (ÜENV) was established in 2019 by several active Estonian youth from various diaspora communities with the aim to form an umbrella organization that connects Estonian youth and youth organizations around the world. ÜENV works to provide a social network and youth development opportunities through events such as the annual Virtual Days, postcard exchanges, mentor programs and other virtual and in-person events. ÜENV works with Estonia’s Integration Foundation and Global Estonians organization. The Network includes over 200 youth, from 23 countries and six continents.
Special guest:
Estonian born, LA based singer/songwriter SVNDRA swiftly captivates and charms any audience with intriguing lyrics that run through your mind all day and melodies that make you want to move your body. Her dynamic vocals are laid over a bed of silky, crisp, and hard hitting hip hop/synth pop inspired beats and range from sultry and playful to hauntingly beautiful and deeply empowering.
SVNDRA dreamt of being a singer and living in Los Angeles from the time she was a child growing up in the beautiful forests of her country and she let nothing get in her way. Alone, and only 17 years old she made her initial trip to the United States and wound up recording her first demos in a basement in Queens. The following year she returned to LA and stayed for six months. As a classically trained dancer and extremely motivated go-getter SVNDRA quickly became noticed in the hip hop and dance communities. In 2015 she began songwriting professionally for other recording artists and by 2019 she began to pursue her own artistic career full time.
When writing, SVNDRA prefers to “treat music like a puzzle”. She starts with one element and takes a playful and loose creative approach, allowing her songs to form naturally which translates in the listening experience as genuine passion and free flowing originality. Multilingual, she currently writes lyrics in both Estonian and English. In her performances SVNDRA consistently brings the highest level of production and energy with distinct choreography, supporting dancers/singers, and masterfully curated concepts.
SVNDRA has played shows in the US and Europe and she will continue to tour and play at festivals and on stages worldwide.
