Is the architect Louis Kahn (1901-1974) not only in dialogue with a history of the finest works of architecture, but also with the medieval architecture of his the birthplace, the island of Saaremaa? Art historian Heie Treier will introduce her latest research which is based on the above assumption. She will make use of the work of the architectural photographer Arne Maasik, who has spent a decade photographing Kahn’s buildings in the United States, Bangladesh, and India, in comparison to Saaremaa’s medieval architecture.

“Chasing Ponies/Ameerika Suvi” is a road movie about life. It is loosely based on the adventures of real Eastern European university students selling books door to door in United States. This movie touches us all, as summer work in the US has become something of a phenomenon among students in Europe – everyone knows someone who has spent a summer in USA – some experiences good, some not so good, each a story in it’s own right.
Aleksander, an old gentleman, maintains a blooming garden surrounding his old house in a sleepy resort town. Karl, his grandson, spends the summer with him and learns about the ways of the nature. Together with autumn rains arrives Aleksander's daughter Marju, who hopes to inherit the old man's house, tear it down and put up a guesthouse on the lot instead.
